Where to go on holiday in March 2023 - Condé Nast Traveller

Image
Temperature: 19°C high; 13°C low Season: spring Travel time from UK: 2 hours 35 minutes Time difference: GMT +1 Nothing brings a spring to the step quite like the sight of Italy's glorious Amalfi coast. Particularly in March, when its vertiginous twists are bathed in a daily average eight hours of sun. Cliffs plunge into the Tyrrhenian Sea, topped with grand palazzos and smart hotels. Narrow, Roman lanes are stuffed with limoncello stalls flogging the boozy spoils of Sorrento's famous fruit. Its snoozy air and pastel-coloured houses are pure Italian cinema: you might even swear you've seen a young Sophia Loren looking impossibly saucy by the quay. Do as the Italians do and spend the lazy, romantic days enjoying a long aperitivo . Don't miss fresh fritto misto at Marina Grande, the town's old fishing harbour, or Michelin-starred Il Buco in the cellars of an old monastery, where chef Peppe Aversa serves seasonal ingredients under a stone-hewn, vaulted ceiling. In addition to all of these are, of course, the bigger pieces which help define a living room. 'When furnishing a small room, it's important to consider what purpose each piece provides and what you truly need to create a cosy, stylish, and functional room,' advises Jenna Choate, Co-Founder, Interior Fox (opens in new tab) . With this in mind, let's discover what's not worth having or adding to these little lounges...

Image
The preliminary plat for a townhome subdivision off Powderhouse Road near Aiken received the unanimous approval of the Aiken County Planning Commission on July 21. But there were some contingencies. Prior to its 6-0 vote, the panel indicated that the applicant, CSRA Development LLC of Augusta, needed to provide in the near future information about the traffic impact study for the subdivision and details about the plans for the rest of the property where Clifton Place will be located. "We do have a traffic study. I don't know why the engineers didn't send it," said Keith Lawrence, who represented CSRA Development at the Planning Commission's meeting. ...

What Is A Craftsman Style Home? - Bankrate.com

Image
You may not recognize the name, but you'd surely recognize the look: a simple but solid-looking, square home, with steps leading up to a covered front porch and beams supporting a V-shaped roof. The Craftsman-style house can be found all across the country, with a particularly large presence in the West and Midwest — and it remains as popular today as it did when it originated over a century ago. Let's explore this quintessential American-as-apple-pie home style, including its history,  characteristics and cost, in more detail. What's the history of Craftsman style? Although the Craftsman style was born in the U.S, it was inspired by the British Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century. Arts and Crafts advocates and designers, like John Ruskin and William Morris, wanted to move away from the mass-produced, machine-made goods born of the Industrial Revolution, choosing to champion high-quality craftsmanship and artistry instead. They also rejected fussy, de...

Buying an Income Property? Why Now's a Good Time to Look at New Construction - The Motley Fool

Image
The great thing about investing in real estate is that it can lead to a steady stream of passive income. And while there are different ways to achieve that goal (for example, loading up on real estate investment trusts, or REITs), one tried-and-true strategy has long been to purchase income properties. Income properties offer real estate investors two opportunities to make money. First, there's the potential for homes to gain value over time, which investors can then unload at a profit. Secondly, income properties in the right market can lead to years of reliable rent payments. That's money investors can use to cover their own expenses with or reinvest to grow their respective empires. Now some real estate investors might shy away from purchasing new construction properties. The reason? They can be very expensive to acquire compared to the cost of existing homes, without enough upside. Image source: Getty Images. Simply put, tenants in need of a rental may be more w...

Whether it's glamping, environmentally friendly hotels or conservation-led adventures, these travel experiences use tourism to protect UK nature and wildlife. Stay in an off-grid retreat and help support vital conservation work Image Trees for Life This form of sustainable tourism comes at an urgent time for UK conservation. According to a report, UK biodiversity loss is nearly at 50% and at risk of 'an ecological meltdown.' In addition, the UK has lost 97% of wildflower meadows since the 1930s due to agriculture and property development. The trend in off-grid nature escapes provides farmers and landowners with a new source of revenue that helps them fund their own rewilding projects.
